- 90-minute planned outage
A precision metals facility needed more power for new machinery. We planned the 2000A service cutover down to the hour to protect production.
Coordinating the PG&E utility drop
The new 2000A service required utility coordination for the service drop, metering, and a scheduled shutdown that matched the plant's production calendar.
Keeping production running
The plant could not afford a full lost shift. Every minute of the cutover had to be planned in advance.
Heavy machine loads
New CNC and fabrication equipment needed dedicated feeders and motor controls sized for high inrush and continuous duty.
Hour-by-hour cutover plan
We pre-installed and tested the new switchgear in parallel, then executed a scripted cutover with the utility so the outage window stayed short.
New motor control center
A new MCC with labeled buckets centralized control of the production equipment and simplified future maintenance and lockout/tagout.
Dedicated machine feeders
Each new machine received its own feeder, routed in conduit along the structure to keep the production floor clear.
Results
- Production lost 90 minutes instead of a full shift
- Capacity for current and future equipment
- Panel schedules and as-builts delivered at closeout
